The Folsom High boys’ 4x1,600-meter relay team broke their own school record on Saturday at the Folsom Distance Carnival and didn’t even win the race.
The team of Sam Scheuer (4:38.4), Jake Goodwin (4:46.5), Mike Kinoshita (5:04.8) and Vinnie Morin (4:44.8) posted a time of 19 minutes, 14.4 seconds, but placed second to Del Campo.
Vivian Lam also placed second in the girls’ 1,600 meters, finishing in 5:32, while Ashley Anderson ran second in the 800 meters in 2:56.
At the freshman-sophomore level, standouts included the 4x1,600-meter relay team that placed second to Del Campo. The team included John Kretschmann (5:16), Owen Collins (5:42), Andrew Wilmarth (5:36) and Parker Nelson (6 :04).
The girls’ team of Sarah Anderson (5:35.3), Muna Alhamad (5:34.1), Katie Bock (5:49) and Michelle Hanson (6:25.8) finished in 23:24.1, which not only set a meet record by 21 seconds, but also set a Folsom High school record by 90 seconds.
Catherine Kim also placed third in the 800 in 3:11.
