Two injured in scissor-lift accident

A weekend accident landed two in the hospital. A scissor lift fell over, ejecting one person, Aug. 20 in Folsom. Two were injured in the 11 a.m. on in the 1600 block of Creekside Drive in Folsom, the Folsom Fire Department responded to an accident in which two people were hospitalized with moderate-to-severe injuries. The scissor lift toppled, ejecting the operator, and the lift struck another person on the ground. The two employees worked for a private painting company. Folsom Fire Department Capt. Tom Sakaris said the accident is currently under investigation. “They were across from Mercy Folsom preparing a building to be painted,” Sakaris said. “Apparently they were moving the scissor lift when it fell over. But the reason it fell over is still under investigation.” Sakaris said the woman was transported to Mercy San Juan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The man, who was ejected, was transported by helicopter with possible life-threatening injuries. There are no updates on either patient, Sakaris said. Responders included 12 members of the Folsom Fire Department and one Sac Metro battalion chief. “This is a pretty rare occurrence where a scissor lift falls over and hits someone on the ground,” Sakaris said.
