Folsom High’s golf team has grown tired of finishing behind Jesuit and this year has done something about it. After taking the Delta River League title from the Marauders last week, the Bulldogs took away their Divisional Title on Monday, as Folsom won the Division I North Championship at El Macero Country Club. The Bulldogs shot a 404, which put them 12 shots in front of runner-up Jesuit, who won last year’s title. Armijo, who placed third with a 417, also qualified for the Masters Tournament on Monday. The tournament was played under horrid conditions of driving rain and 30-to-40 mile-per-hour winds, but that didn’t seem to bother Folsom’s Joel Slak too much. Slak shot the low round of the day, a 3-over-75, to lead the Bulldogs. Out of 53 participants, only 10 broke 80 and most of those rounds were in the high 70s, according to Folsom coach Steve Burgess. Taylor Knoll completed his round in 80 strokes, followed by teammates D.J. Christensen (81), Brian Knoll (82), Dalton Theis (86) and Alex Morgan (87). The Bulldogs will be looking to defend their Masters title they won a year ago on Monday at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton. Last year Folsom won the tournament with a 417, one stroke in front of Jesuit.
