The Folsom Lake College men’s tennis team hosted a solid Santa Rosa squad Tuesday at Rollingwood Racquet Club, but were soundly defeated 9-0. Meanwhile at Rancho Murieta Country Club, the FLC men’s golf team edged Santa Rosa by one stroke to win their four-team non-conference tournament.

Sophomore Mark Quimbo was the closest of any Falcon tennis player to notching a win; he lost in singles 5-7, 1-6 and lost a heartbreaker in doubles (along with doubles partner Argish Gevorgyan) 6-8. Shawn Samson played well, as he stepped in at No. 6 singles and partnered with Jorge Espiritu on No. 3 doubles.

On the golf course, Joel Slak again led all players with a round of 70. Although the win was merely a practice match and will not affect the Big 8 standings, Coach Barry Zarecky was happy to see his team get the victory.

“The boys took this one seriously and earned a nice victory,” said Zarecky.
