It’s Mardi Gras time in Folsom.

The Rotary Club of Folsom Lake is hosting its largest fundraiser of the year and everyone is invited.

The club holds one major fundraiser each year and this is it.

On Feb. 2 the Folsom Lake Community Center, at 52 Natoma St., will be transformed into a costumed, funfest, according to organizers.

Terra Hennesy, of Shingle Springs, said she hasn’t been to Mardi Gras in New Orleans, and liked the idea that something akin to the major event will be closer to home.

“It sounds like a really good time and who doesn’t love a good party,” she said. “The price isn’t bad and it sounds like the money raised goes to good causes.”

The $25 admission includes dinner.

Funds raised from the event benefit local charities including the Christmas Angel gifts for Children of Powerhouse Ministries, grants to local teachers, grants to help improve Twin Lakes Food Bank facilities and also support high school foreign exchange students.

Mila Bolinger, of Folsom, said she’s looking forward to the party.

“The Rotary always puts on fun events and … well, it is Mardi Gras time, so why not grab a mask and some beads and get a little crazy,” she said.
