Folsom’s outdoor ice-skating rink may have been a hit last year, but hopes for another go around this winter have evaporated with the economy. “It’s not that there is a lack of desire to do it,” said Joe Gagliardi, CEO of the Folsom Chamber of Commerce. “There just isn’t the funding available this year like there was last year.” There will be no ice-skating rink, at least not one through the chamber or the city, according Gagliardi. The rink was located in a parking lot in the 800 block of Sutter Street and drew thousands to the area. Many of those skaters were hoping for a return to the ice, according to Gagliardi. “We’ve been getting a lot of calls and just want to get the word out that it isn’t happening this year,” he said. “Due to a lack of funding and the economy, we’re not doing it.” ~ Don Chaddock
