Assemblyman Ted Gaines, R-Roseville, announced last week that the California Transportation Commission has allocated $20 million for additional lanes on U.S. Highway 50 in El Dorado County and for traffic and safety improvements in Roseville. In El Dorado County, on Highway 50 from El Dorado Hills Boulevard to Bass Lake Road, seven miles of HOV lanes will be constructed. It is estimated that the project will save around 2,295 hours of daily travel time for El Dorado County residents and 2,793 hours during peak periods. “This decision will ease Highway 50 gridlock and save fuel for commuters in El Dorado County,” said Gaines. In Roseville, around $1.2 million will go toward improved signal timing and coordination on five major arterials, using new controllers and upgraded equipment, Gaines announced. “Congestion and traffic are some of the most important issues facing our community,” said Gaines. “I look forward to working to see that today’s decision is implemented as soon as possible.”
