Thousands are expected to attend this year’s annual family event in Folsom sponsored by local businesses. The seventh annual Folsom Family Expo and Wellness Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Folsom Community Center, 52 Natoma St., Folsom. Admission and parking is free for the day. The event will include a variety of free activities and attractions such as bounce houses, face painting, dance performances, games, crafts, wellness activities and Zumba classes provided by Mercy Hospital of Folsom. “This year at the Folsom Family Expo we will be providing family-fun Zumba classes, building healthy lunches with Whole Foods and partnering with the Folsom Garden Club and Home Depot on a children’s gardening activity,” said Jan North Wilcox, community outreach specialist for Mercy Hospital of Folsom. “At Mercy Folsom, our focus is on community collaboration in order to foster healthy lifestyles.” As a special treat, expo attendees will also receive free admission to the Folsom Zoo for the day courtesy of Folsom Lake Honda, said Aimee Carroll, social media manager for Style Media Group. “The event will include more than 60 local businesses,” Carroll said. This year, Style Media Group will add on a new feature to the expo for kids and adults. “Style Magazine will be searching for the cutest kids in our community,” Carroll said. “Children from birth to 12-years-old are encouraged to enter the ‘Cutest Kids Contest’ by getting their photo taken at the (event) by K. Walker Photography. The contest is free to enter and each contestant will receive a free 8 x 10 digital print of their photo. The winners will be voted on by the community and three lucky kids will each receive a cover of Style Magazine’s May 2013 ‘Kids’ issue along with other great prizes.” Carroll said thousands of people are expected to attend the expo this year. “This is a local community event to provide people with information on the community,” Carroll said. “We are promoting free family fun all day long.” Reach Laura Newell at ----- KNOW AND GO What: Folsom Family Expo and Wellness Festival When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29 Where: Folsom Community Center, 52 Natoma St., Folsom Info:
