Folsom United falls to Stampede

The Folsom Varsity United lacrosse team suffered a 4-3 loss Saturday against the Gold Country Stampede of Grass Valley in one of the best games of the season for United. All Folsom players performed well with Zach Grossfeld earning 13 saves. Brian Anderson scored twice and Colton Ziebarth added one goal. Mitch Barbosa had one assist. The varsity and junior varsity teams travel to San Jose this weekend for tournament play. The under–15 Hawks won both of their games this weekend improving to 4-1 on the season. The Hawks defeated Pleasant Grove, 7-4 with three goals from Jeremy Sommer and two by Garret Slater. Patrick Sullivan and goalie Bradley Winkleman each had great defensive games. The Hawks also hammered Elk Grove 10-1 and displayed great team defense. The under-13 Falcons also have a 4-1 record. The Falcons got their revenge last week by beating the El Dorado Hills Trojans 6-3 and then getting a 9-3 win over the Fair Oaks Colts. Hunter Jorgensen scored twice against the Colts, while Joe Sullivan, Cooper Gooch, Blake Sorensen, Ethan Quinn, Taylor Koontz, Ethan Sclare and Dakota Chaplin each scored once. Defenders Justin Jacobs, Zack Darnell and Jeremy Webber also played well for the Falcons. Five different players scored the six goals in the win over El Dorado Hills including two goals by Bradford Petchauer and once each by Chase Browning, Hunter Jorgensen, Nick McKenzie and Matt Holden. Dakota Chaplin, Ethan Quinn, and Alex Miller also played well, as did goalie Cody Cox, who made 10 saves.
