Folsom fresh-soph girls take second at Hornet Jamboree

Folsom High’s varsity boys’ cross country team placed fifth at Saturday’s Hornet Jamboree, while the freshman-sophomore girls placed second. Sam Scheuer led the varsity boys, as he finished sixth in the varsity 5-kilometer race with a time of 15 minutes, 49 seconds. Jake Goodwin’s time of 16:38 placed him in 23rd place, while teammate Vinnie Morin ran 29th in 16:46. Mike Kinoshita (53rd, 17:16) and Blake Shaw (70th, 17:38) also scored for the Bulldogs, while Cristiano Bobiles (84th, 17:49) and Tim Scott (99th, 18:20) also ran for the team. The freshman-sophomore girls placed three runners in the top-four spots and finished 25 points behind Davis. Sarah Anderson, Muna Alhamad and Katie Bock placed second, third and fourth in the two-mile race in 13:50, 13:57 and 14:02, respectively. Michelle Hanson placed 32th in 15:44, while Lindsey Bailey was two seconds slower in 33rd place. Non-scoring runners for the Lady Bulldogs included Abbi Johnson (113th, 20:34) and Kattelyn Dyer (114th, 20:46). Vivian Lam had a strong showing in breaking 19 minutes for the varsity girls, placing sixth in 18:59. Ashley Anderson finished in 22:57 in 72nd place and she was followed by Jen Rees (97th, 24:45), Kaeti Park (107th, 25:57) and Cameron Estep (121st, 29:45). Logan Kohne was the top finisher for the freshman-sophomore boys, as he took tenth in 12:24. Weston Dewitt ran 23rd in 12:52 with John Kretschmann seven seconds behind in 30th. Gerardo Flores ran 62nd in 13:37, while Parker Nelson placed 99th in 14:34. Also running for the Bulldogs were Matt Merrill (105th, 14:38) and Andrew Reed (129th, 15:23).
