Eagles' tennis season comes to an end

Vista del Lago?s outstanding tennis season has come to an end. The Eagles fell to Argonaut on Monday, 4-3, in the quarterfinals of the Division III section tennis championships. Vista?s only wins came in doubles play, as James Carey and Sai Rathish won 6-3, 6-1, while Timmy Jacobs and Kyle Johnson came out on top 6-3, 6-0. Gage Huber and Ella Zagorenko also won in doubles play, 6-4, 6-4. The loss brought about the conclusion of a wonderful season for the Eagles, their first as a coed team, which saw them win the Sierra Valley Conference title and finish with an overall record of 14-3. Zagorenko was named the leagues? Most Valuable Player, while Carey, Jacobs, Johnson, Nikki Manvar and Zagorenko earned Sierra Valley Conference all-conference honors.. The Eagles barely won their opening round playoff match against Center, 4-3 on May 3. Vista picked up a pair of singles wins and two doubles wins to take the match. Jacobs picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, while Erica Greenall also won at No. 1 for the girls, 6-3, 6-0. Both winning teams in doubles lost the first set before coming back to take the match. Zagorenko and Danica Greenall won 3-6, 7-6, 6-4, while Carey and Johnson won 4-6, 6-2, 7-6.
