Two games up in the loss column, Vista del Lago’s varsity baseball team sits comfortably on top of the Sierra Valley Conference with four games remaining at the start of this week.

The Eagles have played solid baseball most of the season, including three wins last week with two coming against Union Mine, 13-6 on Wednesday and 6-4 on Friday, and another against El Dorado, 8-1, on Thursday.

Vista’s offense hit its stride last week, pounding out 14 hits in the 13-6 win over the Diamondbacks, followed by an 11-hit effort in Thursday’s win over El Dorado. The Eagles scored all of their runs in that game in two innings, scoring four in the first and another four in the sixth. The Nick’s, Rametta and Schumacher, had home runs and three RBIs apiece, while Josh Pfeffer had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run. Kevin Gough also had two hits, as did Rametta, who also scored two runs.

Mike Majeski threw the complete game, striking out nine while scattering five hits.

In Wednesday’s win over Union Mine, Gough homered and drove in four, while Pfeffer hit two doubles and knocked in three. Rametta added three hits, while Tyler Kaim, Zach Stolarow and Andrew Schantz had two hits each.

The Eagles play at Cosumnes Oaks Wednesday, play host to Liberty Ranch Friday and finish the regular season at Liberty Ranch Monday.
