Deputies seek armed suspect

El Dorado County Sheriff deputies are on the lookout for a gunman who held up a Check into Cash store in Cameron Park. Deputies responded to the silent alarm around noon Tuesday at 3490 Palmer Drive, but released the information Wednesday afternoon. According to Sgt. Bryan Golmitz, of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, described as a black male approximately 20 years old, about 5 feet tall and weighing 115 pounds, walked into the check business and initially asked for a manager. After being told no manager was on the premises, the suspect left the building carrying a newspaper only to return and pull a handgun demanding “all the money.” “The store clerk complied with the demand and removed more than $1,000 from the register,” Golmitz said. It is not known at this time if the suspect walked from the scene or had a vehicle parked in the lot. The male suspect was last seen wearing dark jeans, shiny black tennis shoes, a black/gray zip-up jacket and a dark gray beanie-style cap with ear flaps. The employee was shaken, but not injured during the robbery. Anyone with information is asked to contact the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office at (530) 626-4911.
