More than 100 lined up outside a new store in Palladio on Thursday, eager to be some of the first through the doors of the clothing shop. H&M, Hennes & Mauritz, is “one of the world’s largest fashion retailers, known for offering fashion-forward apparel and quality basics,” according a press release issued by store officials. The store opened at noon, Thursday, Sept. 6, with more than 100 shoppers waiting in line. To celebrate opening day, H&M offered the first 100 shoppers in line an H&M T-shirt and an “Access to Fashion Pass,” valued from $10 to $300. Stacy Iseminger, of Cameron Park, arrived at 9 a.m. to be one of the first 100 in line. “It’s nice to have something new and different here in Folsom,” Iseminger said. “It’s nice to not have to drive all the way out to Roseville to shop now.” Gabby Mirazo, of Elk Grove, came to the opening with her 3-year-old daughter Jocelyn. “We are excited to see an H&M closer to us,” Mirazo said. “They have great clothes for kids and adults that are at reasonable prices.” Austin Ito, of El Dorado Hills, was number 51 in line and said he was happy to receive the free T-shirt and gifts. “I am so excited to have the store so close to me now,” Ito said. “I love shopping here. They have very fashion forward clothes that are very affordable.” H&M was established in Sweden in 1947. Today there are 250 stores in the country and more than 2,600 H&M stores in 44 markets worldwide. Other shops and eateries were recently announced to open in Palladio. Opening at Palladio this fall is Charlotte Russe, Gymboree, Charming Charlie, Color Me Mine and See’s Candy.
