On a beautiful day Monday, Folsom High’s varsity golf team’s performance equaled the weather, as the Bulldogs tied Jesuit for first place in the third Delta River League Tournament of the season. Folsom and Jesuit both came in at 371 strokes on the par-72 course at Wildhawk, Folsom’s best score of the season. “We played our best round of the year in league,” Folsom coach Steve Burgess said. “This helped solidify our second-place spot and at the same time we didn’t lose any ground to Jesuit.” Folsom had two players break par, as D.J. Christensen shot a two-under 70 and Brian Knoll came in with 71 strokes. Taylor Knoll wasn’t that far behind, as he finished one-over par with a 73, while Dalton Theis shot a 75. Alex Morgan finished in 82 strokes, while Zack Bouchard came in with a 93. “This is the first round this year where we got the majority of our team firing on all cylinders and it was great to see,” Burgess said. “This will give us a great boost going into the weekend, as we defend our title at the Cal Invitational at Plumas Pines in Graeagle. “We are hoping to carry on that momentum into Monday at the last league tournament at Cherry Island in Elverta.”
