With the plan to target new opportunities along the Highway 50 corridor, Woodside Homes will begin construction on a new housing project in Folsom in the vacant lot near Parkshore Drive and Folsom Boulevard.
The Parkshore Drive Project will start with the development of 147 homes this year.
“This lot, in the vacant area east of the Business Park, is in a prime location for homeowners,” said Scott Hoisington, Division President for Woodside Homes. “If you’re a commuter, you will be able to utilize the light rail easily from this convenient location. It is also surrounded by retail shops, jobs and recreation with a bike path surrounding the lot.”
Hoisington said the project will be considered high-density, single-family detached homes. It will also be considered a Home Owners Association residential location with a community pool.
“We will be competitive of other small-lot, single-family detached communities in Folsom,” Hoisington said. “People are looking forward to housing in that area of Folsom. Right now, there is not much available for interested home buyers. There is very little residential construction right now. Folsom is one of the best areas to live in the region and is in high demand for people working along the 50 corridor.”
He said they are currently starting infrastructure work on the development and plans to start construction on homes by early next year.
“There is a lack of supply for land right now in Folsom to develop homes. This is an important housing project for Folsom,” Hoisington said. “It takes the risk out of building for us when there is high demand and low supply.”
Houses within the project will have six different floor plans and range in size from 1,600 to 2,300 square feet.
