Williams, Stallworth, Copeland stand tall at Del Oro InvitationalBy: Staff Report
Folsom High junior Jonah Williams took home a pair of gold medals from the Del Oro Invitational on Friday.
Williams placed first in the shot put with a throw of 56 feet, 8 inches and also won the discus with a distance of 166-6 to lead the Bulldogs.
Sophomore Drake Stallworth also had a good meet, as he took second in the 400 meters in 51.57 seconds and ran on the third-place 4x400-meter relay team along with Kaleb Outhavong, Satvik Jarugula and Colin Flaherty. The foursome posted a time of 3:32.73.
Sophomore Sarah Canzoneri also earned a silver medal in the 400 meters, finishing in 59.95.
Sophomore Kat Copeland also had a standout performance, as she took second in the 3,000 meters with a personal-best time of 10:32.17.
“Kat really left it all out on the track,” Folsom Coach Steve Kinoshita said. “She ran a smart, tough, tactical race, and finished way ahead of her seeding. I am very proud of her.”
In other performances of note, sophomore, Dan Wright, broke the five-minute barrier for the first time in the varsity mile, with a time of 4:59.98, and at the freshman-sophomore level, sophomore, Jacob Teodoro won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.69.
The Bulldogs will be back in action in the second Sierra Foothill League meet when they travel to Oak Ridge on Wednesday.
