Alhamad, Stallworth, Williams shine at Sturgeon InvitationalBy: Staff Report
Folsom High School’s Muna Alhamad had another stellar performance on the track on Saturday at the Sturgeon Invitational in Granite Bay.
Alhamad won the varsity 1,600-meter event, breaking away in the final 200 meters to post a 5:08.73 mile, a seven-second personal record. Alhamad later returned in the varsity 800 meters, finishing in similar fashion, winning the race in 2:23.37.
Sophomore Drake Stallworth took first the varsity 400 meters in 50.39, and came within 1/100th second from securing a second victory in the varsity 200 meter, posting a time of 22.95.
Jonah Williams, a junior thrower, also had a good day, winning the varsity shot put with a throw of 57-05.5, and placing third in varsity discus at 145-06.
In other performances of note, sophomore Sarah Canzoneri earned a second-place finish in the varsity 400 meters in 1:00.34, and Rachel Pajer battled heat and an experienced field to place third in the varsity 3200.
Freshman Wade Kiesow, in the frosh-soph mile, just missed breaking the five-minute barrier for the first time, posting a 5:00.18. There are currently six Folsom male athletes at the frosh-soph level very close to breaking into the four-minute mile range.
In the field arena, Elissa Lacomb finished third in the fresh-soph high jump at 4-6, a personal-best.
Bulldog track & field will be back in action at the Depth Charge, Saturday at Prairie City Stadium (FHS). First events kick-off at 9 a.m.
