Four eighth grade Folsom boys were selected to play in the California vs. Florida Youth Shrine Bowl on Dec. 6.

Vista Jr. Eagles Seth Larsen and Grant Patterson and Folsom Jr. Bulldogs Parker Clayton and Bryce Buck traveled to Orlando to play in the game on a California team coached by former Sac State coach John Volek. The all-star game raised money for the Shriners Hospital.

The four boys played in the youth Shrine Bowl at Hughes Stadium in November and then were selected to play in the California vs. Florida Youth Shrine Bowl on Dec. 6. In a letter sent to the players, it read, “being selected for this team demonstrates your community involvement, as well as your abilities as an elite athlete in your league.”

California won the game 54-0. Clayton and Buck, starting wide receivers, each caught a touchdown pass; Clayton from 50 yards and Buck from 35 yards. Buck also kicked seven extra points.

Larsen forced a fumble, while Patterson had an interception to lead the defense.
