SYF Midget Championship game

Jesuit 24, Vista 8

The Vista Jr. Eagle Midgets set out to defend their 2015 championship against the Jesuit Jr. Marauders Saturday in the SYF Championship game. The Eagles defense, led by Carter King, Nate Larsen, Jack Harvey, and Nick Silver, did a superb job stopping the powerful running attack of the Marauders. Jack Goyeau came away with a fumble recovery on a third-and-goal in the first quarter to halt a long drive by the Marauders.  The Eagles’ offense struggled to find the end zone against a big, fast defensive line that pressured quarterback Aydan Edwards for most of the night. The lone scoring drive for the Eagles came by way of a fourth-down touchdown pass from Edwards to wide receiver Davin Griffin, who made a leaping catch for the touchdown. The Eagles gave a team effort but came up short. A huge thank you to all of the players and coaches on the team, who worked their hardest to earn a spot in the title game. Their work ethic and team-first mentality was a pleasure to watch.  Teamwork makes the Dream Work.
