Folsom Chamber of Commerce endorses three for City Council
The Folsom Chamber of Commerce announced on Aug. 23 its endorsement of Kerri Howell, Sarah Aquino and Mike Kozlowski for the Folsom City Council. The Chamber advocates for its members and the health of the business community by supporting and promoting pro-business candidates at the local and statewide level.
“We are pleased to support three highly qualified candidates for election to City Council in November,” said Dan Ryan, local business owner and Chairman of the Board. “Kerri, Sarah and Mike have common sense ideas, a clear vision, and singular focus in representing the city. Each of them are respected in their professional fields, have earned the respect of others in the community and articulated solid priorities for the city that the chamber can support.”
The endorsement of three candidates was affirmed by a vote of the Board of Directors and these are the candidates most closely aligned with the policies, goals and principles of the organization, according to Ryan. The candidates are viewed as the most capable and best able to represent a dynamic City that needs a steady hand in the coming years.
Nine of the 12 candidates on the November ballot sought endorsement by the Chamber of Commerce. The nine candidates submitted questionnaires earlier in August, and were separately interviewed earlier this week by the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee and Board of Directors. The Government Affairs committee submitted a recommendation to the Board of Directors which was voted on earlier today in a meeting of the board.
“The Chamber believes that Kerri, Sarah and Mike have the professional expertise, community support, and personal drive to be elected in November,” Ryan said. “The Chamber is proud to represent our membership by endorsing strong candidates with a drive to win.”
Howell has represented the City for more than 17 years, including two terms as Mayor and three terms as Vice Mayor. Howell is currently a member of the Sacramento Transportation Authority and Sacramento Placerville Joint Powers Authority. Howell is the owner of an engineering firm.
Aquino has served as the Vice President of the Folsom Cordova Unified School District Board. She currently serves on the Citizens’ Advisory Committee for Folsom State Prison and California State Prison, Sacramento. She previously was Chair of the Board of Directors for the Folsom Chamber of Commerce and Library Commissioner for the City of Folsom. Aquino is a licensed life and health insurance agent and runs a family-owned insurance agency.
Kozlowski is active in the Coalition for Adequate School Housing and the Sacramento Region Builders exchange, coaches Track and Field for Vista del Lago High School, and is a Certified Youth Coach with USA Track and Field. Kozlowski is a project manager for Johnson Controls.
The Folsom Chamber of Commerce represents almost 1,000 members in the greater Folsom area.
