Detectives nab alleged mail thieves

Duo tied to several state-wide crimes including several in Folsom

The Folsom Police Department Special Investigation Unit detectives received information about a large-scale identity theft operation on Friday, Aug. 3, and arrested two transients as a result.

Detectives found 30-year-old transient Cody Patrick Cannon and 31-year-old transient Candace Nicole Freitas at a hotel in Rancho Cordova.

Cannon and Freitas each had outstanding warrants for their arrest out of Contra Costa County for fraud-related charges. 

According to a statement released from the Folsom Police Department, Cannon and Freitas were found in possession of hundreds of identity theft items, including fictitious driver’s licenses, credit cards, passports, gift cards and checks. They were also in possession of items used to manufacture driver’s licenses, credit cards, etc. Additionally, detectives found keys used to open cluster mailboxes and a large amount of stolen mail. 
Both subjects have been tied to numerous crimes throughout California, including several in the City of Folsom. Detectives are working in conjunction with local and federal partner agencies on this case.
