Take a welcome break from our toasty temperatures and check out the chill beer scene at TAP Folsom on Friday, Aug. 3. This annual beer fest is Folsom’s Backyard Brewfest taking place in Historic Folsom at 6 p.m. (early entry for beer geeks at 5 p.m.) featuring live music, fun games and more than 40 breweries with their favorites for tasting. Come for the cold beer and then after TAP wraps, stay for a fun night with your crew in the Historic District. It is a summer tradition! Check out all the details at tapfolsom.com.

When your summer plans take you along beautiful Lake Natoma, take a few minutes to consider how you and your family could enjoy this incredible resource. Bring your best ideas and add your voice to the third River District Community Workshop. This interactive session is being held on Monday, Aug. 6, at the Folsom Community Center, 52 Natoma Street. Come learn and share the possibilities with your neighbors. This event is open to all and starts at 6:30 p.m.

Back by popular demand is the American Legend Show taking place at 7 p.m. in the Historic Folsom Amphitheater on August 17 and 18. This live performance, which a tribute to Johnny Cash’s life in song, also features the only drummer to perform with Johnny – WS Holland. It promises to be a great night of entertainment and a special part of Folsom’s legacy. Check out all the details at SunnyMitchellTheatreProjects.com.

Once again, the Greater Folsom Partnership will be organizing a Candidate’s Forum to introduce the large field of City Council candidates that are participating in the upcoming election. This forum will be facilitated by Former Sacramento County Sherriff and KFPK talk show host, John McGinness. Throughout the 90 minutes of the forum, all the candidates will have an opportunity to introduce themselves and share their priorities with the voters. This group of candidates will ultimately provide future leaders for Folsom. Come learn and support these dedicated community members.

The forum will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 21, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Harris Center.
