Visconti’s Ristorante celebrates 25 years in the community

Visconti has been a well-known name within the Folsom community for 25 years. This Saturday, Oct. 7, Visconti’s Ristorante will be celebrating a milestone of an anniversary in the Folsom community and everyone is invited.

When Frank Visconti was passing through town in 1991, he found himself staying here. He left the Bay Area restaurants he cooked in and designed his own business with his family, funded by his father.

In 1992, Visconti’s opened in the small location at 322 East Bidwell Street. Frank said he started small because he had no idea how well it would do. Little did he know everyone would love it.

After 18 years, the Viscontis decided to relocate on the growing side of Folsom at 2700 East Bidwell #700 where there was a larger space as well as a banquet room, full bar, and patio.

“I run the back of the house; my brother runs the front of house; my sister waits tables and does book work; my older sister does the book work as well; and my parents do desserts and help out around the restaurant,” Frank said.

When you come in, the Viscontis makes you feel like family, down to what you put in your stomach.

“A lot of the recipes are family recipes; my mother’s recipes and recipes that we have created on our own,” Frank said.

Some of the more popular dishes include the linguini alla Italiana, spaghetti, chicken parmesan and linguini shrimp asparagus, he said.

“My favorite dish is the eggplant alla mamma, which is eggplant rolled in ground beef and spinach,” Frank said. “It has spaghetti sauce on the bottom and a white cream sauce on top, and then it is baked in the oven.”

With local wine and beer as well as a full bar, there are plenty of options on what to pair with your meal.

Frank said what sets Visconti’s apart from others in the industry is that they are family-owned and operated. Another thing is they make everything fresh daily with no preservatives. There are no microwaves and the only thing in their small freezer is gelato.

Among many aspects of his restaurant, Frank said his favorite thing about his business is his customers. He said he loves meeting new people and this has been a great opportunity to do that.

During the 25th anniversary celebration, the Visconti family will be taking over the parking lot in front of the restaurant. With a live band, appetizers, wine, and chocolate tasting, this family-fun event is something you don’t want to miss.

Tista Visconti, Frank’s brother, said they will not just be celebrating their business, but community support and small business awareness.

“We opened this restaurant blindfolded. We hoped the community would accept our food like we did,” Tista said. “Everyone is invited.”

When asked what the future of the restaurant was, Frank said the future was relocating to their current spot, seven years ago. Rest assured, the Viscontis are not going anywhere.

Visconti’s is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.

“Folsom is a great city,” Frank said. “I have great customers and that is what keeps me going.”
