Summer vacation is winding its way towards its final days and that means just one thing, it’s time to get wacky in Folsom.

This Saturday marks Folsom’s third annual Wacky Dash at Rodeo Park. Presented by the Folsom Parks and Recreation Department, this event is an athletic competition like no other that takes place on a course that is much like the city’s slogan, “distinct in nature,” to say the least.

In the arena that was home to the Folsom Pro Road just a month ago, a two-mile course will be constructed prior to Saturday that will be home to fun in the sun for all ages. The unique course will be complete with mud pits, water slides, a hay bay tunnel, balance beams, a tunnel of foaming bubbles, climbing walls and much more. The event is themed on wild and crazy challenges.

Participants can run on their own or form a mighty team of family and friends. The event is a great way for businesses to show their community spirit by forming a team. One of the most important aspects of competing in this event is that you must wear the most eccentric, bright, and colorful clothes from your closet.

When you cross the finish line, you’ll receive a custom die-cut Wacky Dash medal that is a brand new design this year, as a commemoration for your hard-work and effort. For those that don’t wish to compete, the event provides plenty of entertainment to spectators. Additionally, inflatables, vendors and plenty of activities will be on site for visitors of all ages.

Pre-registration for Saturday’s Wacky Dash remains open until 5 p.m. Friday and will save you a few bucks at $25 per person or $80 for a family of four, with $20 for each additional member.

Same-day registration opens at 6:30 a.m. and is $30 per person or $100 for a family of four with $25 for each additional member. Some 600 participants are expected.

The Wacky Dash takes place between 8 and 11:30 a.m. For available time slots and further information go to www. or contact Folsom Parks and Recreation at 916-355-7285.
