City Council Candidate Profile: Michael Gordon
Michael Gordon

A hat in the ring for Folsom City Council belongs to teacher Michael Gordon.

Gordon, 38, has instructed in advanced-placement government at Del Campo High School for eight years. He currently serves on the Folsom Planning Commission.

Gordon is interested in recruiting progressive firms to Folsom to transit through tough money times.

“In these precarious economic times, you have to take advantage of recruiting quality businesses, alternative-energy and biotech firms,” Gordon said. “These types of businesses allow for higher-paying jobs. We have to reinvent ourselves economically, and make sure we listen to current thinking.”

Gordon holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in education, from Northeastern University and National University, respectively.

“In 1992-93, I was a researcher on health care for President Clinton,” Gordon said. “I interned for Sen. Kennedy when I was going to Northeastern.”

Gordon said the number two plank in his platform is more money for public safety.

“It’s necessary to fund for law enforcement to reduce burglaries,” he said.

He counts his stint on the planning commission valuable for Folsom partly in its allowing him to form friendships with prominent area lawmakers.

“The time on the planning commission generated relationships with several area legislators, to achieve goals for the city of Folsom through economically and fiscally intelligent policies,” he said.

Gordon also a director on the Folsom Athletic Association governing board. The association advocates for improvements to athletic facilities in the city.

I don't know Michael Gordon but I was dissapointed to wake up this morning and find one of his election signs stuck in my yard supporting him. I hope if he is elected that part of his plan is to check with the citizens and not take things for granted. If by chance it was his campaign crew that put it here, then I would suggest he might be lacking basic leadership skills. As a resident, I appreciate my property rights being respected.

Shame on you Mr. Gordon. You claim to be an advocate of kids and parks, yet you sell your political soul to the firefighters union with a promise they come before kids and parks! As far as your claim to be a Folsom Athletic Association Director, I have yet to see you at a meeting in two years! The one time I saw you at a youth sporting event was two years ago during your last campaign when you were handing out brochures. We don't need the fire fighters union to make the difficult decisions facing Folsom, we need Folsom citizens making those decisions. Sorry Michael, you don't get my vote.

okay, I hope somebody gets a chance to read this in the next few hours, but I am a student of mr. Gordon and have been a student at Del Campo high school for four years now, and I can tell you it is a lie that Mr. Gordon has been teaching there for 8 years!

This is his first year! Are you kidding me??

I can't believe there is even this much lying in simple local government! Wow... I can't vote, but if I could, it would not be from Gordon. Sick of liars and ambitious politicians.

Micheal Gordon's entire campaign is undermined by the fact that he lobbied for the grotesk gobalization interest of the biggest realator in the world WALMART.
