Re: City seeks input on annexation

I must add my voice to those against this project. That open space is why my husband and I bought a house here in Folsom. Now the city will be taking it away only to replace it with noise, pollution, and increased traffic and congestion. We will likely leave Folsom when this project goes through.

To claim that our city is “green” while proposing to destroy 5,100 acres is the height of hypocrisy. While “mitigation” is all fine and good, approximately 1,500 trees will still be gone and the habitat will still be destroyed.

How great that we can add to the climate change problem so we can put in more ugly buildings. How irresponsible can we be?

Once the project is approved, the property will be bulldozed, and we will be stuck looking at huge piles of dirt for the next 10 years while the developer waits for the economy to recover. One has only to look at East Bidwell and Iron Point Road to see this strategy in action.

Sadly, no amount of protest will stop this project, barring the miracle of an environmental group buying the property and making it a preserve.

No, this will roll forward, proving yet again that money and talking about concern for the environment is more important than actually protecting the environment.

Way to go, Folsom. I can’t wait to see what you do for an encore.
