Anita Grey, owner of the Bag Lady in Historic Folsom, marks prices on some of the purses she sells. Her business will be one of many taking part in a sidewalk sale this Sunday.

Sutter Street’s sidewalks will be sprinkled with goods this Sunday when local merchants participate in the “Sidewalk Sale,” Noon to 4 p.m on Aug. 8.

“A lot of merchants have been having individual sales and we wanted to pull everyone together and have one big sale,” said Shannon Cheyne, Folsom historic district manager.

As there is no construction on weekends, all Sutter Street businesses will be open that day.

Snook’s will offer it’s new Hawaiian-style caramel corn (made with coconut and macadamia nuts) for a dollar off each bag (normally $6.50).

“It’s hard for me having perishables so I’m going to put a sign outside about the special, but then (customers) will have to come in to get it,” said Jim Snook, owner of Snook’s Candies.

Bita Moghisaei, owner of Shanei, said she is going to put purses, clothing and jewelry on the sidewalk.

“Shannon (Cheyne) did a good job organizing this,” Moghisaei said. “We needed it.”

She said she will bring down prices as much as she can.

And Wayne Thomas, owner of The Shack, will put Disney movies on the sidewalk for $1 each.

The Bag Lady will place racks of $25 bags, $5 flip-flops and discounted jewelry on the sidewalk.

Cheyne said the sale will help drive traffic to historic Folsom during the construction.

“We’re trying to be creative,” she said.
