Folsom little league teams battle it out on home turf
Folsom American Majors off to 2-0 start

The Folsom American Little League Major All-Stars have advanced from pool play in the District 54 All-Star Tournament.

Folsom American won its first two games of the tournament, being played at McFarland Field in Folsom, and will be in the final bracket when play begins Sunday.

Folsom American opened the tournament Sunday with an 11-5 win over Maidu. Ryan Larocca and Matt Huddlestun both homered in the game, while Tylor Rhee went 4-for-4. Will McClure pitched 5 2/3 innings, while Tyler Kaim closed out the game on the mound.

On Tuesday the team got by El Dorado Hills North, 8-5. Huddlestun homered for the second straight game, while Conner Wilson also put one over the fence. McClure, Kyle Foerstel, Kaim and Rhee all had two hits. Kaim pitched four innings and struck out seven in the win.

Folsom’s next game is at 7:30 p.m. today against Woodcreek. Regardless of the outcome, the team will advance to bracket play on Sunday.

The Folsom American 9-10-year olds won for the second time in its tournament at Mann Field, defeating Ponderosa 13-2 on Tuesday. Ryan McBride led the way with three hits, while Matt Silva doubled and William Fitzpatrick picked up a big hit.

Kevin Huff pitched three strong innings on the mound, while McBride and Austin Fox pitched the final inning of the shortened game because of the mercy rule.

Folsom National’s 9-10 all-star team lost to Lakeside on Tuesday, 9-6. Trevor Darrow had a pair of hits, while Dylan Crane had two hits, including a double. In the opener on Sunday, Darrow doubled and singled in a 16-2 loss to Woodcreek.
