El Dorado Hills murder scene is eerily quiet
Sealed home, caution tape reminders of slaying
By Philip Wood, The Telegraph

The scene of the murder in El Dorado Hills was one of taped doors and empty sidewalks on Wednesday. A recycling bin and trash can had been moved to the curb.

Greg Sanders, 17, said he mowed the lawn of the victim and was friends with her daughter, Tylar.

"They seemed to be a happy family when I was around," Sanders said.

He said news trucks and reporters have been all over the neighborhood since Joanne Witt's body was discovered on Monday by El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies doing a welfare check.

Witt hadn't reported to work on Friday or Monday, and her coworkers called the authorities.

"It's been crazy," said Sanders. "I was in shock."

He said he attended Tylar's birthday party the previous year and spent a lot of time with her. He said he didn't know the other suspect, Steven Colver, as well.

"He was an interesting person," Sanders said. "If you didn't know everything about him, you'd think he was a very mature, professional individual."
