EL DORADO HILLS, CA - If you want to build strength, increase flexibility and balance, boost physical and mental stamina and cardio or just work up a good sweat, the recently opened Radiant Yoga studio upstairs in the El Dorado Hills Sports Club is the place to do it all. The far infrared radiant-heated studio offers Power Vinyasa Yoga, an energetic form of yoga in which students move from one pose to the next while connecting their breathing to movements in a venue heated to between 87 and 95 degrees. “Inspiring music” unites mind, body and spirit, said Sheri Napear, one of the three partners in the studio, which features rain forest hardwood bamboo flooring that reflects and evens the temperature. The approximately 2,000-square-foot studio also includes crushed velvet curtains, skylights for natural light and a sound system, added Napear, who’s an instructor at Radiant Yoga and also a flight attendant for American Airlines. All levels of student practitioners attend the classes, which include about 30 in the morning sessions and 10 to 15 in the evening. Total membership is approaching 100. Quality mats rent for $2 and sell for $72 to $98. Towel use is free. Child care is available at no charge for members of El Dorado Hills Sports Club or its Spare Time, Inc., operator. Non-members can receive a $3 discount. Derek and Kim Vanacore of El Dorado Hills are the other partner/owners in Radiant Yoga. Kim Vanacore, 45, and Napear, 51, were students at the Zuda Yoga studio in Folsom and later instructors for the El Dorado Hills Sports Club and the Broadstone Racquet Club in Folsom, both owned by Spare Time. Kim Vanacore was a group exercise instructor for the clubs, teaching kick-boxing, step, cycle and weight training classes. Napear had completed teacher training for Power Vinyasa Yoga. “With Kim instructing at Spare Time, she’d made a lot of good friends within that ownership group,” said Derek Vanacore, 48, who has owned and operated Vanacore International, an asset recovery firm in El Dorado Hills, since 1986. “Consequently, when we approached Spare Time with the idea of putting a studio in what had been vacant space for two years, they welcomed the idea with open arms,” he said. “My experience in business in general is applied to assisting the ladies with the studio.” He said most hot yoga facilities use forced air, pushing temperatures from 95 to 104 degrees. “Far infrared is something completely different. It’s a heat product that penetrates the skin and cleans out toxins,” said Vanacore. A “soft” opening and schedule launched the studio in mid-December and will continue through Jan. 16, to be followed the next day by a full schedule of five daily classes during the week. Operating hours beginning Jan. 17 will be 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday hours will be 8 a.m. to noon. Cost for Spare Time sports club members is $75 monthly for unlimited yoga classes. For the first 100 who sign up for membership, there’s a charter special of $80 for unlimited use. After 100 signups, the cost will be $110 a month. A 10-pass for $120 a month also is available and can be used anytime. The drop-in rate is $17 for adults and $12 for students. Contracts are month-to-month, with a 30-day notice to resign. * * * SHOP TALK What: Radiant Yoga Where: 530 Post Court, El Dorado Hills Who: Derek and Kim Vanacore, Sheri Napear Phone: (916) 933-0300 Online:
