Folsom High graduate Alex White has earned a full basketball scholarship to play at Sacramento State University. White, 18, had a solid basketball career at Folsom High with the highlight coming during her junior year when she was the Delta River League’s Most Valuable Player and led Folsom High to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 1 playoff semifinals. During the season White, a 5-foot, 6-inch guard, averaged 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds a game. Her senior year was cut short because of foot injuries, but she still averaged 13 points to go with eight rebounds this past season. White received word of the scholarship offer just a few weeks ago. “I did a camp for them over the summer, where it was basically a tryout camp for a scholarship,” White said. “There were five of us trying out. I was going to walk-on and play anyway, but this is great.” White said Sac State is looking at her as a No. 3 shooting guard. She said there is currently only one girl ahead of her on the depth chart. White is still battling fallen arches in both feet, but she said they only bother her when she’s running for a long time. White is already preparing for her first collegiate season, playing basketball every day while working on improving her skills, especially her shooting and ball-handling.
