FOLSOM, CA - Through heavy rain and winds, more than 800 people attended the holiday tree lighting and Mercy Hospital of Folsom VIP reception in the piazza at Palladio in Folsom on Thursday, Nov. 29.

“We enjoyed watching the Christmas tree lighting,” said Matt Ehly, of Sacramento. “My kids enjoyed seeing Santa and even pulled his beard to make sure he was real.”

Ehly, owner of Matt’s Ice Creations, attended the event with his wife and two children.

“If possible, I’d like to continue coming to this Folsom event every year,” he said. “It was a lot of fun.”

The evening included horse drawn carriage rides with Santa, appetizers and Christmas carolers.

Free refreshments were served and musical entertainment was provided by Dickens Christmas Carolers and Folsom Middle School Orchestra, said Palladio at Broadstone officials.

A Flash Mob put on by the Sound Out Tap Company of Folsom Dance Arts also entertained guests.

The evening ended with Santa assisting Michael Ricks, the new President of Mercy of Folsom Hospital and Harry Elliot of Elliott Homes, in lighting the tree.
