The California Interscholastic Federation will not be taking action today that forces Sac-Joaquin Section soccer players to choose between school and club teams. The proposed rule that would have extended the same-sport participation rule governing high school soccer to cover the fall and spring seasons for players whose high schools play in those seasons was tabled indefinitely at Friday's CIF Federated Council meeting in Sacramento. Local soccer players are not out of the woods yet, but by unanimous vote, the section leaders gathered elected to postpone taking any action. More details will come as they are available, so check back for updates as this story develops.
