Vista del Lago didn’t have any full teams compete at the Bronco Invitational on Saturday at Willow Hills, but still sent 14 athletes to compete at the popular race featuring 35 schools. Kyle Chun placed higher than any other Vista athlete, as he won the 3,400-meter freshman boys’ small school race in 12 minutes, 10.15 seconds. MacLean Ankhelyi also placed 14th in 13:39.83 and was followed by Ryan Anderson (24th, 14:38.90) and Cody Cox (48th, 17:20.23). Michaela Reynolds finished eighth in the small school freshman-sophomore girls’ 3,400-meter run, completing the run in 14:51.88. Weirui Xiao finished right behind Reynolds in ninth place in 14:52.38. Megan Howell ran 18th in 15:29.73, while Lucie Chevreuil completed the race in 23rd place in 15:37.72. In the sophomore boys’ small-school race, Christian Guevara ran 22nd in 13:41.43, while teammate Aaron Schiek placed 26th in 13:52.92. In the varsity boys 5K small-school race, Sam Ruby ran 59th in 19:02.51 with teammates Andrew Schiek (62nd, 19:09.79) and Ashis Thomas (69th, 19:19.41) close behind. Robert Fangon competed in the junior varsity 5K small school race and placed 115th in 24:38.76.
