Vista del Lago’s varsity girls’ volleyball team has their biggest match of the season to date today when they host Sierra Valley Conference frontrunner Union Mine. If the Eagles win, they will earn a piece of the league title, if they lose, it belongs to Union Mine. The Eagles enter the tournament with some momentum, coming off a weekend which saw them win the Northgate Tournament by winning all seven of their matches. Vista won six matches in straight sets, including a 25-14, 25-21 win over Salesian in the championship match. The Eagles toughest match came in the semis, where they snuck by Branson despite losing the first game, 25-23, by winning the next two, 25-20 and 15-12. “It wa a great day for our program and a fantastic tune-up for our match against Union Mine,” Vista coach Patrick Sanders said. “We saw lots of good volleyball and the girls played really well.”
