Vista del Lago’s tennis team continues to strut their stuff. The Eagles won two matches this week to improve to 4-0 in the Sierra Valley Conference and 6-0 overall. Most impressively, the Eagles are defeating opponents with ease, beating Liberty Ranch 8-1 on Tuesday and then Galt, 9-0 on Wednesday. Against Liberty Ranch Sandeep Gurram and Gus Hendrick came away with 6-2, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-0 wins, respectively, in singles play, as did Jingwen Low, 7-6, 6-1. The Eagles won all five doubles matches in straight sets with Danica Greenall and Angelica Frank working the hardest to pull out a rather competitive 6-4, 6-4 win. Sai Rathish and Julian Rodkiewicz won 6-2, 6-2, while Kyle Johnson and Akshay Rathish took their match 6-0, 6-2. Dina Alarian and Angelica Frank earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory, while Arielle Frank and Gage Huber blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Coach Chris Evers shuffled the lineup to get some more players on the court against Galt and the Eagles did even better, winning 9-0. Johnson, Huber, Kriti Bhatia and Low won singles matches. Preston Fagalde and Akshay Rathish and Rodkiewicz and Ryan Palhegyi won doubles matches for the boys, while Alarian and Angelica Frank and Greenall and Katie Sarrels won for the girls. Hardik Panchal and Arielle Frank won in mixed doubles. Vista won all nine matches in straight sets. The Eagles are busy next week, facing Placer and Galt at home on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, before traveling to El Dorado on Thursday.
