Vista runs well against Cosumnes Oaks despite cold and rain

Cold and rainy weather on April 11 didn’t keep Vista del Lago’s track and field team from putting up some strong performances at a home meet against Cosumnes Oaks. In the sprints, Chris Cooper and Mitch McCann led the way with Cooper running the 100 in 10.9 seconds and McCann finishing with a time of 11.5. Cooper also posted a 22.46 in the 200 with McCann running a 23.98. Trevor Canova, Mitch Jones, Kris Williams, Ryan Yee and Cody Clark all posted personal-best times in the 200 meters. Daniel Morgan and Spencer Greco lowered their times in the 110 hurdles to 17.70 and 18.15, respectively. Throwers Jordan Takeushi and Patrick Roche also had a good meet, Takeushi throwing the shot put 113 feet, 8 inches and Roche hurling the shot put 32-6. On Saturday the Eagles participated in the Depth Charge meet at Folsom High and had many athletes place in the top three. Winners included Jeff Reinking (800, 2:05.14), Caprina Pipion (400, fresh/soph, 1:00.72) and Lucie Chevreuil (800, fresh/soph, 2:37.96). Cooper took second in the varsity 100 in 11.01, along with Jen Morgan (1,600, varsity, 5:32.19) and Marisa Leung (pole vault, varsity, 8-6). Zach Jaeger (1,600, varsity, 4:48.67) and Austin Robertson (triple jump, varsity, 37-10) placed third, while Hannah Hoole (shot, fresh/soph, 18-10) and Alexa Vaquero (200, fresh/soph, 31.14) seized their own personal records. Nicole Frydenlund earned two first-place finishes in the 100 hurdles (18.01) and 300 hurdles (51.80) and also placed third in the high jump (4-0).
