Vista del Lago’s varsity baseball team kept things rolling on Thursday with a 10-4 win over Cosumnes Oaks, ending the week with three wins to improve to 9-3 in the Sierra Valley Conference and 13-8 overall. The Eagles pounded out 11 hits, led by Travis Fowlston, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles and four RBI. The top of the order, featuring Bryce Gieseke, Josh Pfeffer and Alex Muzzi, combined for five hits and seven runs scored. “Our pitching has been solid so I’ve been telling the guys if we score a couple of runs we should win,” Vista coach Scott Seffens said. “We hit it today.” The Eagles scored four runs in the third with a two-out rally to take a 4-0 lead. Pfeffer was hit by a pitch, Muzzi walked and Wyland Silvan was safe on an error to load the bases. Pfeffer and Muzzi then scored on an error for the first two runs and Fowlston followed with a double to drive in Silvan and Ryan Rodriguez. Three more runs came in the fourth. Tyler Kaim led off with a double and scored on Gieseke’s one-out single. Two batters later, Muzzi singled in Gieseke to make it 6-0. Silvan followed with a single to score Pfeffer to make it 7-0. The Wolfpack got two runs back in the fifth of Vista starter Andrew Lucio in his last inning of work, but Vista came right back with three in the sixth. For the second time in the game the Eagles loaded the bases, as Gieseke was hit by a pitch, Pfeffer singled and Muzzi reached on a bunt single. Silvan’s sac fly scored Gieseke and Fowlston’s third double of the game brought in Pfeffer and Muzzi. After pitching a scoreless sixth, Mike Majeski allowed two runs in the seventh, as his defense behind him contributed to the cause. Nevertheless, the Eagles held on for a solid 10-4 win.
