FOLSOM, CA - Folsom Lake Community Concert Association provided local students at Vista del Lago High School with a special concert last week. As part of a Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission grant, the association is able to provide student outreach concerts to local music, choir and theater students in Folsom. “We provide these programs to students to be an inspiration for these young musicians and help show them what they can do with music,” said association past president Sandra Burvant. On Friday, the student outreach concert featured a performance by the a cappella group “VoicePlay.” Vista del Lago senior Jack Fanning, 17, said the performance was an inspiration. “I think this is an important and inspirational show to watch,” Fanning said. “It’s inspirational to me because I can see how far I can go with my music.” Junior Emily Stafford, 16, was also impressed with the performance. “I’m a first time choir student,” Stafford said. “This is a really cool thing to do because it shows us that choir students can become something important and go far in music. The performance shows people that we can perform professionally with just our voice. It’s very inspirational.”
