Doug Vernon qualified for the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Track and Field Championships by placing second in the triple jump with a leap of 45 feet, 3 ¼ inches. Vernon was the only Folsom High athlete to qualify for the meet, while competing at the Division I championships on Wednesday and Friday at Elk Grove High School. Four Folsom High athletes had personal-best marks, but still weren?t able to qualify for the meet. Katie Pettinghill lowered her own school record in the 100 hurdles, posting a time of 16.19 to place 11th, but missed qualifying for the masters meet by .16 seconds. Aaron Burkhead also placed 11th in the 800 meters, running his best time by three seconds with a 2:01.75. Sam Scheuer ran a two-second personal-best time in the 1,600 of 4:37.32 and placed 15th. Mackenzie Harsch had two 12th-place finishes in the 100 (12.81) and the 200 (26.12 p.r.).
