Doug Vernon and Muna Alhamad led Folsom High’s track and field team at the Cal Invitational held Saturday at Whitney High School. Vernon won the triple jump with a leap of 44 feet, 4 inches and took second in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 20-10. Alhamad, a freshman, ran negative splits of 1 minute, 16 seconds and 1:13 to win the 800 meters with a personal-best time of 2:29. Also for the varsity girls, Vivian Lam ran her best time in the 3,200 of 11:53 to take second, while Mackenzie Harsch placed sixth in the 100 in 13:45. Ariana Lewis also competed and ran a 13.76. Katie Bock placed ninth in the 1,600 with a personal-best time of 5:44. For the varsity boys, Sam Scheuer placed fifth in the 1,600 in 4:41. Also running the event for the Bulldogs were Aaron Burkhead (4:47), Vinnie Morin (4:54), Jake Goodwin (4:57), Dave Hanson (4:59) and Ryley Hoffman (5:02). All but Hoffman posted personal-best times. Also, Jim Bryan placed seventh in the high hurdles in 18.74. At the freshman-sophomore level, Jake Klaiber scored in the high hurdles and had personal records in the high jump (5-4) and triple jump (33-4), where he placed fifth. Garrick Johnson placed third in the triple jump at 36-2 and ran the 100 meters in 13.02.
