A solo-vehicle crash near Rescue killed both the driver and passenger Jan. 17. Officer Dan Stark, spokesman for the Placerville CHP office, said the victim, Bruce Bradley, 70, was driving northbound on Lotus Road just north of the Rescue Fire Station, when for unknown reasons his 1991 Toyota Previa minivan left the roadway. “He drifted off the road and struck a tree,” Stark said. “No other vehicles were involved.” Bradley’s passenger, 92-year-old Daisy O’Donnell of Citrus Heights, also died as a result of injuries she sustained in the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, however, it does not appear that alcohol or drugs played a role.
