Track records fall at distance carnival

Two school records fell at the Folsom/Del Campo Distance Carnival on Friday at Folsom High. The boys 4x1,600-meter relay team of Mike Kinoshita (4:53), Sam Scheuer (4:40), Vinnie Morin (4:43) and Jake Goodwin (4:58) set a school record by eight seconds, placing third with a time of 19 minutes, 15 seconds. The freshman-sophomore girls 4x1,600-meter team of Muna Alhamad (5:37), Katie Bock (5:46), Ashley Anderson (6:23) and Jenn Rees (7:05) also set a school record by two minutes, finishing second with a time of 24:54. The team also set a meet record by nearly a minute. Back to the varsity, Vivian Lam won the 1,600 with a personal-best time of 5:37.6, while Ben Hodson placed third in the 800 in 2:07. Cristiano Bobiles also placed seventh in the 1,600 in 5:10. At the freshman-sophomore level, John Kretschmann and Jordan Denny ran 5:35 and 5:37 in the 1,600 to place fourth and fifth, respectively. At the Sac Town Relays on Saturday at Whitney, Tim Scott placed second in the pole vault by clearing 10 feet, 6 inches, while Peter Merrill took fifth at 10-0. Jake Klaiber finished fifth in the high jump at 5-4, while Geraldo Flores (33-4) and Matt Merrill (29-7) had personal-best performances in the shot put. Ariana Lewis also placed 12th in the 100 meters in 13.8.
