Tony Hernandez led Folsom’s Mad Dawg Wrestling Club at the Natomas Freestyle Tournament held Saturday, placing first in the 105-pound weight class. In winning the tournament, Hernandez, a freshman at Folsom High, improved to 12-0 in freestyle competition and earned his third straight tournament gold medal. Folsom’s only other gold medalist was Curtis Booth, who placed first in the Novice, 64-pound weight class. Seven Folsom wrestlers earned second-place finishes including Lucas Jorge (Peewee, 51), Dillon Jorge (Bantam, 67), Brice Terry (Midget, 61), Gavin Davis-Smith (Midget, 64), Dalton Boyer (Novice, 65), Kyle Parrott (Schoolboy, 98) and Joey Manz (Schoolboy, 102). Third-place finishers included Ashley Booth (Bantam, 47), Jeffrey Skyrud (Midget, 79), Kaleb Jones (Novice, 58), James Angello (Novice, 68), Joshua Kim (Novice, 119) and David Call (Cadet, 149). Thirty athletes representing the Mad Dawg Wrestling Club competed in the tournament.
