With three wins last week, Folsom High’s varsity boys’ basketball team enters today’s Delta River League opener at Sheldon feeling good about themselves. The team rebounded from a dismal performance at the MaxPreps Tournament with solid wins over Granite Bay, Monterey Trail and Del Oro last week to finish non-league play with a 10-7 record. Coach Mike Wall had said his team would need to play well to win all three games and that’s exactly what the team did. Folsom began the week on Jan 3 with a 64-53 win over Granite Bay and then defeated Monterey Trail last Thursday, 52-26. On Saturday, the team wrapped up non-league play with a 57-53 win over Del Oro on Saturday. The Bulldogs trailed 38-35 after three quarters, but outscored the Golden Eagles 22-15 in the fourth quarter to take the game. Justin Woody scored 17 points in the win, while Edwin Olympio added 11 and Anthony Lee finished with eight. “We were way better than we were in San Diego,”?Wall said after the Monterey Trail win. “The team had troubled focusing down there, but the last two games we’ve been pretty sharp.”
