Three football players from Folsom made the MaxPreps California Division II All-State football team. Folsom High senior quarterback Tanner Trosin was named the Division II Player of the Year, making it the second year in a row that Folsom’s quarterback earned that award. Dano Graves won it a year ago. Senior wide receivers J’Juan Muldrow of Folsom and Logan Smith from Vista del Lago also made the team. Trosin set a state record by passing for 5,185 yards, the only quarterback in California to ever eclipse the 5,000-yard mark. Trosin threw for 49 touchdowns and also rushed for 20 scores and 1,179 yards. Muldrow caught 122 balls for 1,895 yards and 23 touchdowns and also rushed 75 times for 526 yards and seven scores. Trosin and Muldrow join Graves and Tyler Trosin, who made the all-state first team a year ago. Offensive lineman Stephen Sippel was a second-team selection. “Obviously, for those guys, it’s a great individual honor to be named as one of the top players in the state,” Folsom coach Kris Richardson said. “It’s a huge accomplishment and a huge honor. For the program, we’ve had five guys make the all-state team the last two years and had two players of the year, so to us that’s a sign that we’ve got the ball rolling and good things are happening here at Folsom High.” Like Trosin, Smith also set a state record, as he caught 152 passes, shattering the previous record of 122 set last year. Smith’s 152 passes were good for 1,899 yards and 11 touchdowns. “After the kind of year Logan had, to be recognized for that as a member of the all-state team, is just awesome,” Vista coach Chris Jones said. “He worked hard and earned that. He’s become a guy that we want our kids to model themselves after and it’s something else that they can work toward. It’s awesome for Logan and he’s deserving of it.”
