Angelo Tengan, an 11-year-old sixth grader at Sutter Middle School and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu student at El Dorado Hills Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, won the Gi division of the Warrior’s Quest Jiu-Jitsu Championships held Nov. 19-20. Tengan came from behind to win by a triangle submission in the finals of the tournament. “Angelo started learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu just over six months ago,” said Eliot Kelly, Tengan’s Jiu-Jitsu instructor. “He has made tremendous improvement in the last several months and did an incredible job preparing for this competition. He is a leader on the mat, always setting a good example for the younger students. He is also an outstanding student, receiving a 4.0 on his most current report card. He is a true example of both academic and scholastic success.”
