Starsky named mayor

The Folsom City Council unanimously elected Jeffrey Starsky as mayor and Andy Morin as vice mayor during the Dec. 8 City Council meeting. Starsky was first elected to the City Council in 2000 and was re-elected in 2004 and 2008. He served as mayor in 2002 and as vice mayor in 2009. Morin was elected to the council in 2002 and served as vice mayor in 2005 and mayor in 2006 and again in 2007 “It is truly an honor to represent this wonderful city as its mayor,” said Starsky. “I look forward to serving this council and the residents of Folsom in 2010.” Starsky says he will continue to push an agenda of strong economic development as a primary objective. Starsky lists Trader Joe’s and Costco as businesses he helped bring to town. He is a board member for the Folsom Tourism Bureau and the Folsom Economic Development Corporation, the economic development arm of the city. He has represented Folsom as a board member of the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District, the agency responsible for the region’s Clean Air Act compliance, throughout his tenure on the City Council. He served as the district’s board chairman in 2005 and 2006. During his tenure on the council, Starsky has helped secure more than $100 million in federal funding for the Folsom Lake Crossing and other local projects. ~ Staff report
