Starr leads Folsom at Stanford

Mike Starr placed sixth in the pole vault at the Stanford Invitational, Folsom’s highest finisher during the prestigious two-day meet held Friday and Saturday. Starr cleared the bar at 14-feet to finish sixth. He also posted his fastest time of the season in the 110 high hurdles in 16.34 seconds, but did not place. Tyler Trosin also had a good meet, taking a full-second off his fastest time in the 400 meters to win his heat in 50.34 seconds. He posted the third-fastest time for a Folsom High sophomore behind Randy Fair and Marcus McCauley. It’s also the seventh-fastest time on the varsity all-time list. Morgan Pugh posted her fastest time in the mile of 5:14.51, which converts to a 5:12.6 in the 1,600, which would be the seventh-fastest time in Folsom High history behind Lauren Mulkey, running for Cal Poly, Natasha LaBeaud, running for Georgetown, Jamie Witt, who ran for Seattle Pacific, Maria Malone, who just signed with Stanford, Michelle Solone, who ran at UC Davis, and Casey O’Day, currently at UC Santa Barbara. That group combined for 31 state meet appearances and 12 state medals. Jessica Gannon placed 13th in the high jump, clearing 4’10”. Courtney Anderson finished 24th in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:11.13, while Clay Daly posted his fastest time in the mile in 4:41.82.
